TuneUp Utilities 2009 Review

TuneUp Utilities 2009

I recently received my copy of TuneUp Utilities 2009 and would like to submit a short review. First I have been a user of TuneUp Utilities now for several years. It contains many great utilities to tune up and fix your computer. I am impressed with TuneUp Utilities 2009 as it adds more features over the previous versions. This new version starts out with a new start page where it checks your computer and reports suggestions to increase the speed of the computer and problems that it finds. Besides the start page you have six other pages as follows:

Increase Performance: TuneUp Utilities 2009 will defrag your computer’s hard drives, optimize your computer’s memory, defrag the registry, optimize the computer’s speed, and manage your start up programs.

Free Up Disk Space: On this page you can free up disk space by removing unnecessary files and backups and remove unnecessary windows functions. You can also organize files and folders.

Clean Up Windows: TuneUp Utilities 2009 will run a complete maintenance check once a week which checks your computer and registry and also defrag’s your hard drive. On this page you can manually run the tune up registry cleaner, shortcut cleaner, and uninstall programs.

Solve Problems: On this page you can check your computer’s file system using the TuneUp Disk Doctor. Another utility is the TuneUp Repair Wizard where you can fix computer and display problems. Finally you have the TuneUp Undelete utility to restore accidentally deleted files.

Customize Windows: Here you have the TuneUp Styler where you adjust the look and feel of windows, replace icons, change the boot screen, and change the user logon. Then you also have the TuneUp System Control to change windows and program settings, adjust the display, adjust the start menu and taskbar, and adjust the network settings.

Additional Tools: The final page contains the TuneUp Process Manger to manage active processes, check open files, and monitor system capacity. The TuneUp Registry Editor is used to search and edit the registry. TuneUp Shredder is used to completely destroy files, folders, and recycle bin content. Last is the TuneUp System Information which displays software and hardware configuration of the computer and display performance information.

Like I said before I have used TuneUp Utilities for several years and my favorite utility is the TuneUp Registry Cleaner. It has fixed my computer many times as I install/uninstall a lot of programs and TuneUp Registry Cleaner removes the left over junk that doesn’t get uninstalled correctly.

I highly recommend that you check out TuneUp Utilities 2009 and you can download a free trial version here. If you have any comments then please post them.
