Seven Pounds, The Movie

Seven Pounds, The Movie Today, Thursday December 25th, 2008 we went to The Warren Theater here in Moore, OK and saw the movie “Seven Pounds” starring Will Smith and Rosario Dawson. In the movie Will plays Ben Thomas, as IRS agent, who is actually using his brother’s IRS credentials.

Will embarks on a journey to change the lives of seven strangers. The reason is because Will caused an accident some time before that killed seven people, including his wife. So he wants to make his life to mean something by changing the lives of the seven strangers.

He does this by giving his home free and clear to an abused woman and two children. She is abused by her husband whom she finally manages to run away from. The other six strangers he touches by giving bone marrow transplant and body organs. A lung to his brother and part of his liver to another stranger.

In the end it is a bit depressing as Will commits suicide to fulfill his last act. After his death, Will gives hisĀ  heart to a woman, Rosario Dawson, who he fell in love with and she didn’t have too long to live without a new heart. Rosario Dawson acting was also great. Finally he gave his eyes to a blind person played by Woody Harrelson.

Personally, I enjoyed the movie. Will Smith’s acting was superb. It is definitely a movie where you mustĀ  patiently wait until the story unfolds. It seemed a bit confusing at first, with short snippets of his past that finally make sense as the story reaches its climax but it all comes together at the end. I highly recommend that you see the movie! I would give it four out of five stars.
