The first thing you need when creating an online business is a squeeze page. This is a web page that gathers leads (customers) information and gives you the ability to contact them with offers and continue to build a relationship with them. Why is this page so important and what is the difference between a squeeze page and a website? Lets check it out.
The Power Of A Squeeze Page
Everyone knows you need a website for people to go to when they want to buy your product. And the traditional website serves its purpose for large retailers with a name out there already, but the new person that needs to build a customer base should have a squeeze page also. The main purpose of a squeeze page, unlike a traditional website, is to gather customer information so you can keep in contact with the people who visit your site.
Look at it this way. If 100 people come to your site over the course of a month and only a couple people buy something you have just lost out on making money off of the other customers who didn’t buy. There is no way to get in contact with them again… they are lost to you. But, what if you had their email or phone number! Ahh, now you can continue to contact them with special offers and discounted prices. They were obviously at least somewhat interested in your products or services or they wouldn’t have been on your site in the first place. Now that you have their information you have a much better chance of making a sale to them through future offers.
How A Squeeze Page Works
First of all, its called a ‘squeeze page’ because it squeezes the customers information out of them. The customer obviously has to voluntarily give it up, but that is where the name comes from.
When a customer arrives at your squeeze page they are given an offer from you that you believe is valuable enough for them to give their email and sometimes phone number to you. An area on the page is brought to the customers attention where they can enter their info. Any kind of offer can be made from a discount on the products they want to buy from you to being entered into a raffle for a vacation or free TV. The offer is up to you.
A video is usually the best way to grab their attention. Something that makes them pay attention to what is being offered and makes them want to enter their info. Usually a simple video of you talking to them is fine, but you can put in more complex videos with pictures of products, music and fancy special effects if you want. Once they enter their info they are brought to your website where they can purchase your products.
