Whether your just beginning in the whole online marketing thing, or your a seasoned marketer, there are some things that need brought to your attention. Things that may be bringing your own marketing campaigns down in the dirt.

We all know that building backlinks is key to getting the traffic needed to your website. Your build the backlinks, and your site goes up in the search engines. But what do we really know about getting backlinks?

We are told by the big “guru” marketers that when getting our backlinks a good source of linking is through blog commenting. Forums are also a great source of linking. The marketers tell us to find sites that rank high, “authority sites” as there called, and to only backlink on ones that relate to the niche your in.

But does this really matter? No.. It really doesn’t.

Here is the bottom line: A backlink is a backlink. And every backlink you get is basically a vote in the search engines. Let me make this perfectly clear, it makes NO DIFFERENCE what type of site you backlink to, the content, niche, or anything else.

This is a common marketing myth, shelled out to beginners in a ploy to deter them from doing correct marketing. But why would you be told this? Because if you are doing all this work to get backlinks, and all the while your doing it incorrectly, then the marketers who know the truth, have just gotten rid of your competition. Simple as that.

I have backlinked to over 5,000 different blogs, half of which have absolutely nothing to do with my niche or product. But do I get in trouble? Heck no! My site still goes up in the search rankings and I make more money. Google does not care who you are backlinking to. As I said, a backlink is a vote, nothing more. It doesnt matter what blog you post to, a vote is a vote, period.

As for the myth that you “should only submit 5 backlinks a day”, this is another ploy to send you in the wrong direction. Google does not care how fast you get your backlinks. There is no rule or regulation stating how fast or how many links you can get each day.
